Sorry that I write in English - I have no Hebrew keyboard here.

I would like to react only to the last paragraph of you. I actually
against this strike (if I have the right to have an opinion while
outside of Israel). I am against it because, as some already wrote
here, they have in my opinion other targets then protecting the
workers.

Anyway, many people, like you in the last paragraph, argue that
they don't want to pay for those who don't work.
This is one of the arguments for economy like in USA. You don't
work - you don't eat.

In west Europe (apart from England), on the other hand, there is
a different arrangement. People pay here huge taxes. But somehow,
people actually do work (I will be happy to see statistics about
productivity comparison between more social places (like west
Europe, not like old USSR) and more capitalistic places (USA,
England) - if someone can help).

But there is much more to that. In such economy where the taxes
are high, and the social support is VERY GOOD in return, you
don't have such amazing gaps between the poor and the rich.
This means that the society is less fragmented, more caring and
you have much less criminality, you great health system, if
you child is has autism you can be sure he will be treated very
well also after you got old and died. And so on.

I don't say that the model of Finland or Belgium or France is
the correct one. They are all different. But they all much more
social than what you can find in Israel and in my opinion the
people (including the rich) are in better situation there.

Of course, if you are rich, or feel that you can be rich, then
maybe it is better for you to be in a place like USA, but then
you think about yourself only. If you try to think what is
better for the people (so not only the rich), I am not sure
that cutting the social support is so smart.

I am no expert in economy, and I know that some economists
have great explanations why this model cannot work. But it
actually work in Europe. I will be happy to read why.
