Are you in any way related to another Sharon? Because it seems you are taking the same illogical stance.

The situation today is bad. There are many unemployed people, and it's the club that keeps on growing. In the mean time, the Government cuts at the funds for the weak, while keeping ludicrous salaries and boarding expences for government officials.

There is a growing movement of reservists, that are unwilling to serve in the West Bank and Gaza under the current norms. And on the other hand, there is a counter-movement of people volunteering for same reserve service. If the Palestinians thought that Israeli soldiers are rude now, wait 'till they see the next batch. This will make terrorist movements even more legitimate within the Palestinian populace, if that is at all possible.

The Chief of Staff's response to this is a vague accusation of a political move, instead of actually talking to said refusers to find out what's going on. This is a People's Reserve-based military, not a military dictatorship.

Growing inflation means that importers and local distributers are losing money, this already being a time of recession.

And while all this is happening, there are all the pro-Palestinians feeding on the natural Jewish sense of self-guilt.

This must not stand. This government was not healthily elected. The Knesset was chosen at one point in time, while the PM was chosen at a later date. The Knesset should stand to re-election, with people offering actual visions of what is to come.

Sharon's position of ambigious and vague declarations will not do. Yes, there is no doubt that any solution to our problems will take an immense amount of time, and will be hard, and painstaking.

But we need a leader that has a clear agenda for this trial, and at the same time, has the ability to motivate, and comfort, and inspire us all. We need a leader that can make the long battle ahead endurable. And we need someone with integrity. We need an FDR. We need a Churchil, we need an Anuar Sadat. We do not need a Lindon Johnson, or a Chamberlain, or a Nasser. Is Ariel Sharon an FDR? Then let him make his mission clear. Let him attack the economical and social issues directly, and not skirt them in televised interviews.
Is Ariel Sharon a Winston Churchil? Then let him make a clear and unambigious stance against terrorism, let him propose and execute a viable solution to that problem. Is Ariel Sharon an Anuar Sadat? Then let him swim through the murk of diplomacy, and bring a workable peace agreement.
Is Ariel Sharon less than that? Then he cannot handle the reins of office, and we will face a fate much like that of Czechoslovakia at 1938, or of Argentina at the present. No lesser man can triumph now, he can but delay defeat for a trifle.
